Fresh faced and breaking into the Cape Town scene, Llevado are on a mission to bring good music to people’s ears.

They have been likened to the sounds of Matchbox 20, Lighthouse and John Mayer with their easy listening rock-based tunes being perfect for almost any venue. Front man, Justin Davies’ smooth on stage presence pulls together a band of talented musicians made up of Noel Kriegler on rhythm guitar, and Sheldon Bredenkamp on drums.

With a new, modern twist on their genre, Llevado have come up with a radio-friendly combination that music fans across the board can enjoy. Their music has been featured on Good Hope FM, KFM, AAFM and Tuks FM, with television appearances on Hectic Nine-9 on SABC 2. The boys are also known to have played at festivals such as the Greyton Rock Festival, Vlakgat Biker Festival and Rock the River.

Cocolo is a dynamic musical troupe with a supple structure that allows its members to stack the deck for each individual performance – a limber formation suited to a group of prolific musicians who have their irons in multiple musical fires.

The vivacious Carla Louw takes the lead on vocals and percussion, joined by Jonny Dosé who astounds with his skill on both acoustic and electric guitar. Depending on the nature of each gig, they may also be joined on stage by Marné Gelderbloem who teases tantalizing tunes from the double base, ukulele to add a sultry dimension to the performance.

Cocolo derives its moniker from an amalgamation of onomatopoeic inside jokes and more or less refers to the slightly offbeat, very energetic nature of its members. As for the music itself, audiences can get ready for a smooth, spicy blend of both original and covered funk and folk that traipses down melodic country lanes and delights with unexpected dashes of good ole’ swing. In short – the kind of music that goes well with cold beer and hot nights.

Jeremy’s music career began in his home town of Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe, where his passion for guitar catapulted him into a gigging rock band, touring the country from the age of 14.

In 2008 he wrote and co-wrote the original songs, ‘Free Free’ and ‘Sweet Love’ for an international animated movie, ‘The Lion of Judah’, which was released in the US in June 2011.

His session work includes adverts for tv, backing vocals and guitar on various albums, as well as vocal sessions in 2010 for Grammy-winning arranger and composer, Jeremy Lubbock.

Empire Alight was conceived mid-2014 by four like-minded professional musicians with the idea of bringing something fresh and unique to the Cape Town music scene.

The band focuses on having a modern repertoire with songs that aren’t overplayed but that are still relatable to their audience by developing their own arrangements and takes on various genres of modern and classic hits.

They strive to keep their performance as organic as possible, while being able to interchange between quieter, intimate acoustic sets with percussion, or rocking out fully plugged for occasions that call for it. Most importantly they enjoy having fun on stage and sharing that connection with their audience by creating a good musical atmosphere.
